My name is Kara Sanders and I am the makerspace teacher at Gotsch Intermediate School in the Affton School District. I started with a simple classroom makerspace in my 5th grade classroom. Fast forward a few years and I am the makerspace teacher for the building. I have been in this position for 6 years and have changed it up every year as I learn new and innovative technology, projects ideas, and techniques.
It is my hope that my sessions help anyone who wants to do more creative and problem solving activities/projects in their classroom; whether you plan to create a makerspace or not. Or possibly you have been tasked with creating a makerspace and don't know where to start. Or you want to incorporate Design Thinking into your curriculum.
I also want to learn from you. There will be time built into each part of my session for Q&A where I would love to get a dialog going about how you include creativity within your curriculum.
